| French journalist and novelist, born in Chongqing, SC China. Fascinated by ancient Asia, he became war correspondent for France-Soir (1945–54), and published five volumes on La Guerre d'Indochine, followed by La Chine de Iseu-Hi a Mao and La Vallée des Roses (1977). He received the 1973 Prix Interallié for Monsieur le Consul, and was awarded the Prix Goncourt in 1981 for Anne Marie. He also published autobiographical works, in the style of a reporter. |
