| Sculptor, born in Florence, NC Italy. Between 1431 and 1440 he executed 10 unequalled panels of angels and dancing boys for the cathedral there, for whose sacristy he also made a bronze door with 10 panels of figures in relief (1448–67). He is also known for his figures in terracotta, including medallions and reliefs, white or coloured. He established a business producing glazed terracottas which was carried on by his nephew Andrea della Robbia (1435–1525) and Andrea's son Giovanni della Robbia (1469–c.1529). |
