| French architect, born in Rome, Italy. From 1799 he worked in Paris where he built the tomb of Napoleon in the Invalides. He also designed the New Louvre in Paris in a neo-Renaissance style which was realized by Hector Lefuel (1852–7) after Visconti's death. |
