| Psychologist, born in Chicago, Illinois, USA. He studied at Cornell and Chicago universities, taught at the Carnegie Institute of Technology (1915–23) and Chicago University (1927–52), and became director of the Psychometric Laboratory at North Carolina University (1952–5). His academic work was devoted to the theory and practice of intelligence testing and to the development of statistical techniques. |
