| Actress, born in Encino, California, USA. She studied biology at Vassar College, then took up acting, becoming a member of the Groundlings, a Los Angeles improvisational comedy group. After a range of small parts in television, she became known for her role as Ursula in Mad About You (1992), then achieved a major success as Phoebe Buffay (Ursula's ‘twin sister’) in the acclaimed television series Friends (1994– ). Her feature films include Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion (1997), The Opposite of Sex (1998), and Analyze This (1999). |
