Prominent as an amateur actor while at Oxford, he turned to composition, and contributed songs to many of the shows of George Edwardes (1852–1915), at the Gaiety Theatre and elsewhere in London. He was composer of several musical comedies, of which The Quaker Girl and The Country Girl were popular. |
