| Humanist, born in Stignano in Valdinievole, Tuscany, Italy. A friend of Petrarca and Boccaccio, he was a philologist and carried out important research into ancient manuscripts. He wrote moral and philosophical treatises, including De seculo et religione (1381) and De tyranno (1400), and an interesting Epistolario which bears witness to his literary and political commitment. |
