| Fashion designer, born in Béigles, France. Apprenticed to her milliner aunt at age 12, she emigrated to the USA as a teenager. In the 1920s she funded the House of Daché in New York City, where her thousands of hat designs came to identify her indelibly with hats, particularly her signature turbans, half-hats, and snoods. |
