| Film actor, born in Ballymena, NE Northern Ireland, UK. He performed with the Abbey Theatre, Dublin, and the Lyric Players Theatre, Belfast, making his film debut in Excalibur (1981). He received an Oscar nomination for his role as Schindler in Schindler's List (1993), and went on to play the title roles in Rob Roy (1995) and Michael Collins (1996). Later films include Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace (1999). He is married to actress Natasha Richardson. |
