| Wife of a relatively minor Chinese official of the Han period. Her tomb at Mawangdui, Hunan, was opened in 1972. It contained, besides a well-preserved corpse wrapped in 20 layers of embroidered silk in a painted lacquer coffin, over 1000 other objects, including rolls of silk, lacquered objets d'art, clothing and wigs, picnic boxes of food, and her portrait. |
