| Pharmaceutical naturalist and biologist, regarded as ‘the prince of pharmacists’, and ‘the father of Chinese herbal medicine’. He compiled the Pen Tshao Kang Mu (Great Pharmacopoeia), completed in 1578 and published in 1596. It gives an exhaustive description of 1000 plants and 1000 animals, and includes more than 8000 prescriptions. |
