| biography:
| Chinese politician, and effective head of the Communist Party (1928–30), born in Hunan province, SEC China. He enforced what has since become known as the ‘Li Lisan line’, in which the Party's weak and undeveloped military forces were used in futile attempts to capture cities. His authoritarian methods alienated his fellow leaders. He was demoted in 1930, and lived in the Soviet Union until 1945. Thereafter he was employed by the Chinese Communist Party in various minor roles. |
