| Musician, born in Chicago, Illinois, USA. Originally a violin student, he worked as a pianist in Chicago nightclubs for many years. His recording of ‘Honky Tonk Train Blues’ (1929) was belatedly very successful (1936), and he became a leading exponent of the boogie-woogie piano during the late 1930s. |
