| Tennis player, born in Sydney, New South Wales, SE Australia. With his doubles partner, Ken Rosewall, he had a meteoric rise to fame, winning the Wimbledon doubles title and a Davis Cup challenge match against the USA before he was 20 years old. He defeated Rosewall in the Wimbledon final of 1956, and won again the following year, but thereafter turned professional and was ineligible by the rules of the time to compete for the game's major honours. |
