| Physicist, born in Baku, Azerbaijan. He studied at Leningrad University, and with Niels Bohr in Copenhagen, and became professor of physics at Moscow (1937). He received the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1962 for his work on theories of condensed matter, particularly superfluidity and superconductivity in helium. |
