| Physician and botanist, born in Wemding, SC Germany. He was professor of medicine at Tübingen. Interested in the medicinal properties of plants, he wrote Historia stirpium (1542), the first organized and illustrated account of plants intended as a guide for plant collection. The genus Fuchsia was named after him. |
