| Humanist and politician, born in Arezzo, NC Italy. He was chancellor of the republic of Florence (1427–44) and translator of Plato and Aristotle. He was a great supporter of the vernacular, which he used to write Vite di Dante e Petrarca (1436). A leading historian of his time, he wrote Historiarum florentini populi libri XII (1414–15) charting the origins of the republic until 1404. |
