| biography:
| Metallurgist, born in Annaberg, E Germany. He studied at the University of Wittenberg, and was appointed control tester of coins in Prague in 1567. He is best known for his book Description of Leading Ore Processing and Mining Methods (1574, trans title), considered to be the first manual of analytical and metallurgical chemistry. The book was translated and published until the mid-18th-c. |
