| Anglo-Norman poet, born in Jersey, Channel Is. He studied in Paris, and was a Canon of Bayeux (1160–70). He wrote several verse lives of the saints, a Norman-French version of Geoffrey of Monmouth's Historia regum Britanniae entitled the Roman de Brut (1155), and the Roman de Rou (1160–74), an epic of the exploits of the Dukes of Normandy. |
