| Opera and Lieder singer, born in Melbourne, Victoria, SE Australia. She studied in Paris, made her debut in 1957 at Covent Garden in Verdi's Un ballo in maschera, and became principal resident artist there. She has appeared with all leading Australian companies, and is renowned for her Azucena in Verdi's Il Trovatore. She has made a number of acclaimed recordings, including Peter Grimes under the composer Benjamin Britten. |
