| Etruscan ruler of Clusium. According to Roman patriotic tradition he laid siege to Rome after the overthrow in 510 BC of Tarquinius Superbus, but was prevented from capturing the city by the heroism of Horatius Cocles defending the bridge across the Tiber. However, this tradition may conceal a temporary occupation of Rome by Porsenna. |
