| Writer, born in London, UK, the daughter of William Makepeace Thackeray. A close companion of her father, she contributed valuable personal reminiscences to an 1898–9 edition of his works, and also wrote memoirs of their contemporaries, such as Tennyson and Ruskin. Her novels include The Village on the Cliff (1867) and Old Kensington (1873). |
