| biography:
| Poet, born in Borders, Scotland, SE Scotland, UK, the daughter of the Scottish Covenanter, Sir Patrick Hume (1641–1724). In 1684 she supplied him with food during his concealment in the vault beneath Polwarth Church near Duns, Scottish Borders, and helped shelter the Covenanting scholar, Robert Baillie of Jerviswood, whose son she married in 1692. She is remembered for her songs. |
