| Scholar, diarist, and translator, born in Uffington, Lincolnshire, EC England, UK, the daughter of the ninth Earl of Linsey. She became interested in the literature of Wales after her marriage in 1833 to Sir Josiah John Guest (1785–1852), of Merthyr Tydfil. After his death she married (1855) Charles Schreiber, former MP for Cheltenham and Poole. Best known for her part, as Lady Charlotte Guest, in translating and editing The Mabinogion (1838–49), she was also a collector of fans, playing cards, and china, which she bequeathed to the British Museum and the Victoria and Albert Museum. |
