| Chemist, born in Aarberg, W Switzerland. He studied at the University of Basel (PhD 1964), later becoming affiliated to the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zürich and the The Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, CA. He shared the 2002 Nobel Prize for Chemistry for his development of nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy for determining the three-dimensional structure of biological macromolecules in solution. |
