| Athlete, born in London, UK. He joined the army in 1975, and went on to become one of the leading athletes of the 1990s. His achievements include gold medals in the 4 x 100 m relay at the 1986 European Championships and Commonwealth Games (1986), the 400 m hurdles at the 1990 European Championships (also breaking a 22-year world record) and Commonwealth Games, the 4 x 400 m relay at the 1991 World Championships in Tokyo, and the 4 x 400 m relay in the 1993 European Cup. His Olympic medals include silver in the 4 x 100 m relay (1984) and bronze for the same event in 1994. Since 1993 he has become known as a television presenter. |
