| Swimmer, born in Brisbane, Queensland, NE Australia. He won the silver medal in the 1500 m freestyle at the 1990 Commonwealth Games, and set four world records (at 800 m and 1500 m) in the year leading up to the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, where he won the 1500 m final, breaking the Games record in the process, and regaining the title at the Atlanta Olympic Games in 1996. Between times, in 1994, he broke his own world 1500 m record with a time of 14 min 41·66 sec. |
