| biography:
| Industrial designer, born in London, UK. He studied at Willesdon School of Arts and Crafts (1944–7) before working as a technical illustrator. After some years in architectural and design practices, he ran his own design consultancy (1958–71). In 1971 he cofounded the multi-disciplinary practice Pentagram. His product designs are among the most familiar even to those who do not know his name. They include food mixers for Kenwood, cameras for Kodak, locomotives for British Rail, and the unloved parking meter for Venner. He became a royal designer for industry in 1969. |
