| Ballet dancer, born in Melbourne, Victoria, SE Australia. He joined the Australian Ballet for its inaugural season in 1969, and went on to dance virtually every lead role in its repertoire. He appeared as a guest with the Sydney Dance Company, American Ballet Theatre, Bolshoi Ballet, and London Festival Ballet. He retired as the Australian Ballet's principal dancer in 1981, but continued dancing on a more restricted basis. A popular performer in classical and contemporary pieces, he is widely considered to have been Australia's best male dancer. |
