biography: Swedish statesman and prime minister (1920, 1921–3, 1924–5), born in Stockholm, Sweden. He was co-founder of the Social Democratic Party in 1889, becoming leader of the party from 1907. In 1921 he shared the Nobel Peace Prize for his work in international diplomacy.
