| Sociologist, born in Vienna, Austria, the son of Erik Erikson. A childhood emigrant to the USA, he earned a PhD at the University of Chicago and joined the faculty at Yale (1966), where he edited the Yale Review (1979–89). His books include Wayward Puritans (1966) and Everything in Its Path (1976). |
