| Architect and furniture designer, born in Copenhagen, Denmark. He placed great emphasis on the function of furniture, and applied ergonomics to his designs. He was one of the initiators of Denmark's prominence in the field of design, partly through his teaching at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, which he helped to found in 1924. He was made an honorary royal designer for industry in Britain in 1949. |
