| Physician, child psychiatrist, and educator, born in Chicago, Illinois, USA. He was psychiatrist-in-chief of the Judge Baker Guidance Center in Boston (1971–7) and then served as surgeon-general of the USA (1977–81). He pioneered the introduction of psychosocial development in paediatric education, and his career was marked by his interest in the development of health policies, particularly those aimed at children and families. |
