| Businessman, born in Cape Town, SW South Africa. He studied at Diocesan College, Rondebosch, and became a personal assistant to Harry Oppenheimer at Anglo American Corporation of SA, South Africa's largest corporation. Formerly chairman of De Beer's Consolidated Mines, and Minorco SA, he became chairman of Anglo American in 1990. He is also a governor of the Urban Foundation. |
