| Painter, born in Snovsk, Russia. Emigrating with his parents to the USA (1924), he studied in New York City (1940–2) and in France (1949–51), and lived in New York and Meredith, NH. A colour-field painter using staining techniques and spray paint, he taught at C W Post College, NY (1956–63), and at Bennington College, VT (1963–7). |
