| Athlete, born in Bordeaux, SW France. He held the world record four times for the 1500 m, 1000 m, the mile, and the 2000 m, and gained a silver medal for the 1500 m in the 1928 Olympic Games. In 1932 he was disqualified for professionalism, and a film Le Mile was made about his career in the same year. |
