| Baseball player, born in Snow Hill, Maryland, USA. As a third baseman for the Homestead Grays, Pittsburgh Crawfords, and other teams of the 1920s and 1930s black baseball leagues, he was one of the great clutch hitters of the game. He hit over ·300 during most seasons. In 1975 he was elected to baseball's Hall of Fame. |
