| biography:
| Religious writer, the son of Sebastián de Horozco the proverb-collector, and brother of Sebastián de Covarrubias Horozco the lexicographer, born in Toledo, C Spain. He became Canon of Sevilla Cathedral, Archdeacon of Segovia Cathedral, and finally Bishop of Guadix. He compiled one of the most influential emblem books, the Emblemas morales (1589), as well as the collection Paradoxas christianas contra las falsas opiniones del mundo (1592). In the genre of de regimine principium he wrote Doctrina de príncipes enseñada por el santo Job (1605). |
