| biography:
| Meteorologist and university administrator, born in Honey Brook, Pennsylvania, USA. He spent his entire academic career at Pennsylvania State University (1948–92). He became a full professor in 1958 and senior vice-president for research and dean of the graduate school from 1985. His meteorological research focused on cloud physics and dynamics for the purpose of weather modification. |
