| Anthropologist, born in Caldwell, Texas, USA. He earned a PhD at the University of Pennsylvania and taught at Brown University (1956–64), where he was director of the Haffenreffer Museum of the American Indian. He pioneered dendrochronology, and his many Alaskan excavations led to such works as Ancient Men of the Arctic (1967). |
