| biography:
| Russian specialist and educator, born in Washington, District of Columbia, USA. Specializing in the history of Russia and Eastern Europe, Soviet education and indoctrination, and Russian social history, he worked as a resident in Soviet culture at the American Museum of Natural History (1949). He was a professor of history and director of the Russian and Eastern European Center at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign (1960). His books include a Dictionary of Russian Historical Terms (1970) and a Source Book for Russian History from Early Times to 1917 (1972). |
