| Writer, born in Kansas City, Missouri, USA. After studies at Columbia, Stanford, and San Francisco State universities, he lived in California, edited Contact magazine (1959–65), and wrote a wide range of verse, realistic fiction, and non-fiction. His many books include the novels Mrs Bridge (1959) and Mr Bridge (1969), and the best-selling historical work Son of the Morning Star (1984). |
