| Rabbi, born in Ostrowo, Prussia (now Germany). He went to the USA in 1872, and was rabbi of Congregation Keneseth Israel in Philadelphia from 1887 until the end of his life. A leader of Reform Judaism, he was also devoted to public service, serving on many civic and government commissions and committees. |
