| biography:
| Motion picture executive, born in Houston, Texas, USA. He was a decorated bomber pilot during World War 2, and later co-founded and ran an advertising agency (1952–63). He helped to co-ordinate Lyndon B Johnson's inauguration (1963) and then became the president's special assistant (1963–6). As president of the Motion Picture Association of America (1966), he co-wrote a new code for films (1966) which intended to reflect, rather than dictate, public values. |
