| Automotive manufacturing executive, born in Columbus, Indiana, USA. In a 43-year career with the multi-national diesel manufacturer, Cummins Engine Co (Columbus, IN), he became president (1947–51) and chairman (1951–77). Through the company's foundation, he sponsored designs by distinguished architects for many of the public buildings that make Columbus a mecca for students of modern architecture. |
