| Actor, director, and producer, born in Santurce, Puerto Rico. He studied at Princeton, made his Broadway debut in 1935, and played the leading role in Charley's Aunt (1940). The star of many other plays and films, he produced and played the leading role in Cyrano de Bergerac on stage (1946), and won an Oscar for the film version (1950). |
