| biography:
| Poet, born in Conil, Cádiz, SW Spain. He collaborated with Juan A Cavestany in the historical play Pedro el bastardo (1888). Teodomiro, o la cueva de Cristo (1879) is a ‘legend’ imitating those by Zorrilla. Originally a pure lyric poet, he experimented with the didactic and realistic modes. Voces del alma (1884), harshly reviewed by Leopoldo Alas (‘Clarín’), is a selection of his work, superseded by Obras poéticas. |
