| Writer, born in Toulouse, S France. He studied law, then attended the Service du travail obligatoiré (STO) in Germany. He wrote biographical works, such as Jouhandeau (1960) and Mauriac (1991), and his many novels include L'Age Ingrat (1952), Les Cartes (1962), and La Bataille de Toulouse (1966, Prix Renaudot). Among later works are the intimate journals Les Profondes années (1976) and Petit Entracte à la guerre (1981). |
