| Writer, born in Alkmaar, W Netherlands. He began in 1986 with De houdgreep (The Hold) but became known as the spokesman for the Maximalen, a group of young poets agitating against constructed and complex poetry. As a novelist, he became popular with Gimmick! (1989), a romantic description of the Amsterdam art scene. He likes to depict the modern world around him, and to this end uses contemporary expressions to describe modern-day society and themes. |
