| Table tennis player, born in Romford, Essex, SE England, UK. He won the world singles title in 1949 and 1951, and was a member of England's winning Swaythling Cup team in 1953. During 12 years as an England international (1947–59), he represented his country 152 times. He became England's non-playing captain upon retirement, and team manager in 1968, retiring in 1970 to concentrate on his sports goods firm. |
